About

Latinos’ Agenda was founded by Soccorro Duran-Fernandez, she began working in the non-profit realm in 2008 as a way to serve the immigrant community in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Latinos’ Agenda aims to improve the lives of those on the path to citizenship and citizens alike with open doors to all. Many of our clients have limited ability in speaking English and thus most of our services are translations. Although, we also help in finding and securing housing, food, and additionally we guide our clients in obtaining access to basic services. Latinos’ Agenda goes above and beyond to ensure that every client has access to financial, legal, and emotional assistance. This means we help not only in securing housing but also furnishing said homes. Furthermore, we help in enrolling children in school, guiding undocumented and documented individuals to citizenship, and more. While the older population relies much more on Latinos’ Agenda, the younger generation is also supported by our organization as they often volunteer and obtain new tools and resources that help guide them later in life.

The number of people served: We have served over 500 individuals in the last 2 years.

While most of our clients are in the Bridgeport, Connecticut area, Latinos’ Agenda has open doors to whoever may need assistance. Bridgeport is home to over 145,000 individuals, many of which do not speak English and/or are immigrants. Additionally, many of Bridgeport’s residents are low-income, do not have a college education, and/or are unaware of how to navigate life in the United States.
